Character Name: Kaeya Alberich
Username: frostblooded
Canon: Genshin Impact
Canonpoint: Just before the Traveler arrives
Background: Wiki
Inventory: his Vision!!
Abilities:

Swordsman: VERY GOOD AT SWORDS. He does not have a sword here but he is still good at them.

Tactician: Known for his observational skills and thoughtful strategies. I'm dumb, though, so who knows how much this will really come into play.

Cryo Vision: Can channel ice-based elemental energy via the use of his vision, which is an indestructible crystal ball that he usually wears at his hip. Though these powers are limited to specific skills in game (a burst of frost from the tip of his sword + a circle of ice lances), the manga shows both Kaeya and other vision-bearers utilizing their elemental powers in more unique and flexible ways--he creates shields and cages of ice, uses huge ice shards as daggers, etc. He can also freeze water so as to make a temporary bridge and, of course, he makes a very good fireman.

CHARACTER SURVEY

What are your character's motivations? What drives them? Who are some important people to them, if anyone?

To the outside observer, Kaeya is a staunch defender of his home, the city/nation of Mondstadt. As a knight captain, he is involved in countless missions and investigations, and he works tirelessly to preserve the peace and safety of Mond's citizens. None of that is really disingenuous, either--he does care deeply about the city, its people, and his colleagues in the Knights of Favonius. However, though he is dedicated to his work, his loyalties are more complex and opaque, even to himself. Set as a kind of sleeper agent from a young age, Kaeya hails from the dead nation of Khaenri'ah, and though his precise mission is as yet unknown, he was very definitely meant to side with his homeland over Mondstadt in the event of a conflict between the two. He lives a lie, and has no plans to ever reveal those lies beyond the one person he's told (and to disastrous effect). He wants to preserve his place in Mondstadt for as long as he can, and he wants to leave the past in the past.

If given the chance, what would your character change about themselves or their circumstances?

I expect he'd love it if he didn't feel that he had to live a lie, and he'd be happier if he thought he could safely be more open and vulnerable with other people--but the one time he did that, he was almost killed by the person he cared for most, so it's not on the docket for any time soon! If he could alter his circumstances, it'd be a radical, unreasonable alteration--which is to say, having not been abandoned by his father at a young age, and having not had the terrible weight of his destroyed kingdom's fate left solely on his shoulders.

Strengths? Favorite things?

He's a smooth talker, charming and easy-going. He draws information out of friends and foes alike with his disarmingly affable manner, and he's good at developing intricate plans to achieve his ends. He observes people closely, and though he often keeps his conclusions close to the chest, he's good at accurately assessing a person or situation--he functions as more or less like a detective in Mondstadt at present, and seems to take to the role well.

He likes wine, particularly sweet wines, and is apparently able to drink a lot of it without getting drunk.

Weaknesses? Fears and phobias? Anything they regret or avoid?

It's implied that Kaeya struggles with loneliness, which dovetails with other implications about how he feels out of place, how he lacks a true sense of 'home'. After being abandoned by his birth father and then cast out by Diluc, he likely has fears and anxieties related to that, too. He avoids talking about his past, and will tell bald-faced lies about it if asked. This is not only in relation to his status as truly an outsider with respect to Mond, but also about more recent events, such as how he received his Vision (i.e., during the fight with Diluc that began just after Kaeya confessed everything to him).

Where does your character fall on the moral spectrum? Are they the average, law-abiding citizen? A mischief-maker? A genocidal villain? What are some of the things they've done for or against the greater good?

Definitely a bit of a mischief-maker. The game frames him as enigmatic, as perhaps someone you can't quite trust, but even though he has a Machiavellian way of going about things, he's clearly on the side of justice. As a knight, he does work pretty constantly for the greater good--resolving incidents, apprehending criminals, investigating strange cases. However, he's also known to rile people up for fun, and to enjoy testing others just to see how they'll react. He'll lie for no real reason, flirt to get a reaction, etc.
